Petr Tomeček

About

Petr Tomeček is a Czech musician born in Opava, widely regarded as the pioneer of pan flute performance in the Czech Republic. He trained as a trumpeter at the Janáček Conservatoire in Ostrava and played with the Prague Castle Guard Band, the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre and the Silesian Theatre in Opava. After a break from music during which he ran a business, he returned through the pan flute - an instrument virtually no one in Czechia played at the time. He refined his technique with Liselotte Rokyta and Ulrich Herkenhoff and maintained personal contact with the legendary Gheorghe Zamfir; his repertoire spans classical music, film scores and sacred pieces.
