Břeclavská synagoga

Břeclav

About the venue

The synagogue in Břeclav was built in 1868 at the expense of Jewish mayor David Kuffner, and twenty years later the Viennese architect Max Fleischer remodelled it in the Neo-Romanesque style with Moorish decorative elements inside. During the German occupation it served as a warehouse; after a thorough reconstruction in 1997-1999 it passed into the care of the Municipal Museum and Gallery Břeclav. Today it houses the permanent exhibition "Jewish Břeclav", temporary shows, and occasional concerts. The building is a listed cultural monument.
