Arcibiskupský palác

Olomouc

About the venue

The Archbishop's Palace in Olomouc is the largest residential building in the city's historic core and one of the most important early-Baroque structures in Moravia. It was built between 1664 and 1685 to designs by imperial architect Filiberto Luchese on the site of an older Renaissance palace, with seven two-storey wings enclosing two courtyards. The ceremonial halls retain their Rococo, Empire and Neo-Baroque decoration with period furnishings; it was in the Throne Room that Emperor Ferdinand V abdicated in favour of Franz Joseph I in 1848. Since 2011 the palace has been open to the public for guided tours, and its state rooms can also be hired for cultural and social events.
