Ostrava
The Gong multifunctional auditorium is a unique cultural centre in Ostrava's Dolní Vítkovice industrial area, created by converting a historic gas holder from 1924 to a design by architect Josef Pleskot (completed 2011–2012). The main hall seats 1,509 and the entire building can accommodate up to 2,500 visitors. It hosts concerts, theatre performances, international conferences, exhibitions and the Colours of Ostrava music festival. The building won the Czech Building of the Year 2013 award and was ranked among the world's TOP 10 buildings at the Expo Real trade fair in Munich in 2014.
