Epopee: Aerial Symphony
Multifunctional Hall Gong, Ostrava
Alphonse Mucha's monumental cycle takes on the form of an original orchestral-visual production at the Gong. Symphonic music, acrobatics, movement, light and imagery merge into a single scenic form - Epopee is not an illustration of Mucha's paintings, but a free, contemporary interpretation of them.
The Ostrava Philharmonic under chief conductor Daniel Raiskin forms the sonic foundation of the production, complemented by acrobatic imagery from the BO CIRK Company ensemble. The narrative winds through key moments of Slavic history: from pagan rituals through spiritual transformations and conflicts to the search for identity.
Video mapping and light design work with Mucha's imagery and symbolism, creating a shifting visual world across epochs. The project is realized in collaboration with the Mucha Foundation and Moravský Krumlov Castle, where the Slavic Epopee is permanently displayed.
