Cello Republic
The world-renowned Cello Republic quartet takes the stage on Sunday, October 4, 2026, in Svitavy. Cello Republic is an ensemble of four cellists who, after studying at leading conservatories worldwide, realized that something was missing from their performances on major concert halls: humor. Despite their vastly different personalities and worldviews, two Concert Masters of the Czech Philharmonic, a "crossover star," and a conservatory professor came together with a mission to present music as something current, alive, and as essential as the air we breathe. They abandon the safe solemnity of institutions and blur the line between stage and audience.
Their concerts feature a "no limits" concept that pushes the technical boundaries of the cello, combined with a stand-up comedy show. On one hand, they explain and comment on the music; on the other, they connect it to human stories and anecdotes from everyday life. Their performances are therefore accessible to both the general public and devoted classical music enthusiasts. In the Czech Republic and worldwide, this quartet has become known for brilliant musical arrangements of music from virtually every genre, music videos, and three recorded CDs. On their latest album FREEDOM (2022, 100PROmotion), they reflect on more than a decade of playing together while also pointing toward their future direction. The concert will take place at the Svitavy cultural center FABRIKA on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at 19:00. Featuring Petr Špaček, Matěj Štěpánek, Jan Zemen, and Ivan Vokáč.
