Jan Zemen

About

Jan Zemen (born 1985) is a Czech cellist, chamber musician and teacher. He studied at the Pardubice Conservatory, the Prague Academy of Performing Arts (HAMU), and completed his training in Lucerne, Switzerland, with Marek Jerie. As a soloist he has appeared with orchestras including the Hradec Králové Philharmonic and the Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra. He is best known as a member of the crossover cello quartet Cello Republic, which blends classical repertoire with humour and genre-crossing arrangements; he also plays in Kalliopé Trio Prague and Barocco Sempre Giovane, and teaches at the Pardubice Conservatory.

    Cello Republic launched its 2026 tour: in January it performed in Pelhřimov and Příbram, in February in Břeclav and Velké Meziříčí.
