Ivan Vokáč (born 1987) is a Czech cellist who has served as principal cellist of the Czech Philharmonic since 2023, having joined the orchestra in January 2014. He studied at the Prague Conservatory and the Academy of Performing Arts under Professor Miroslav Petráš, and won prizes at numerous international competitions, including the absolute prize at Concertino Praga 2006 and first place at the Leoš Janáček Competition in Brno in 2013. Alongside his orchestral work he performs with the Lobkowicz Trio and the crossover cello quartet Cello Republic, and also appears as a pianist with the Argentine tango ensemble Escualo Quintet.
Ivan Vokáč performed as a soloist at the New Year's and Christmas concert of the Czech Philharmonic (31.12.2024 and 1.1.2025) with Saint-Saëns' Cello Concerto No. 1 in A minor under the baton of Tomáš Netopil.
Cello Republic (including Vokáč) performed on March 23, 2025 in Bratislava at the Concert Hall of Slovak Radio with a program of film music.
Cello Republic completed a spring tour of Czech cities, including a concert on May 29, 2025 in Česká Třebová.
Ivan Vokáč was appointed principal cellist of the Czech Philharmonic after a successful three-round competition with a final round accompanied by the orchestra.
In an interview for KlasikaPlus.cz, Vokáč hinted at a planned performance of Bloch's Hebrew Rhapsody Schelomo with a leading Czech orchestra and an orchestral project of Cello Republic with the Moravian Philharmonic Olomouc in May 2025.
