About

Petr Špaček (born 1988, Třebíč) is a Czech cellist from a musical family: his father plays in the Czech Philharmonic and his brother Josef Špaček Jr. is its concertmaster. He trained at the Prague Conservatory and then at New England Conservatory in Boston under Laurence Lesser, completing his master's at HAMU with Miroslav Petráš. A winner of the 2007 Concertino Praga competition, he has appeared as soloist with the FOK, Prague Philharmonia and Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra. Since launching his solo career with a sold-out Rudolfinum concert in September 2021, he has built a wide following by mixing cello with pop and rock repertoire.
