Grandhotel Ambassador Národní dům occupies an Art Nouveau building in central Karlovy Vary, designed in 1899-1900 by Viennese architects Ferdinand Fellner and Hermann Helmer. It began as a civic house for the Karlovy Vary marksmen's guild, combining a hotel, restaurant and variety theatre; it has been a listed cultural monument since 1958. Following a four-year reconstruction, it reopened in May 2015 as a 4-star Superior hotel with 83 rooms, the Ambassador Grand Spa balneo centre, and the Orpheum ballroom - seating nearly 800 - whose distinctive glass ceiling was fabricated by the Škoda works in Plzeň back in 1899.
