About

Synkopy 61 are a rock band from Brno, Czech Republic, founded in December 1960 by guitarist Petr Směja at the age of fourteen - making them older than the Rolling Stones. They were among the leading acts of Czechoslovak beat music in the 1960s and 70s, winning the international festival in Gliwice, Poland (1966) and the title of Best Moravian Group at the first Czechoslovak beat festival (1967). Their rich vocal harmonies earned them the nickname 'Moravian Beach Boys'.
