Michal Prokop (born 13 August 1946, Prague) is a Czech rock singer, guitarist and songwriter, inseparably linked to the band Framus Five. He started out as the band's guitarist in 1963 and stepped up to the microphone in 1967, steering the group toward soul and rhythm and blues. One of the defining figures of Czech rock, he holds France's Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (1995), has been inducted twice into Radio Beat's Hall of Fame, and entered the Anděl Awards Hall of Fame in 2018. He has also worked as a TV presenter and served as a member of parliament for the Civic Democratic Alliance.
Michal Prokop and Framus Five received two statuettes at the Anděl Coca-Cola 2025 Awards (April 11, 2026) - for Album of the Year and Solo Artist of the Year for the album Ostraka.
At a Christmas concert in the sold-out Prague Forum Karlín (capacity approximately 3,000 spectators), Prokop received a platinum record for the album Ostraka.
The album Ostraka was awarded a Gold record by Supraphon less than two months after its release.
The jubilee tenth studio album Ostraka was released (April 25, 2025) on LP, CD and digitally by Supraphon; the album was accompanied by an extensive tour.
The Joe's Garage agency confirmed that 2026 will be a busy year of touring for Prokop and will also bring a celebration of his 80th birthday.
