Karel Kahovec Celebrates 80 Years
A celebration of Karel Kahovec's 80th birthday featuring his greatest hits, songs by Petr Novak, and Beatles classics. The Beatles Revival band will be the special guest.
Petr Novák (6 September 1945 - 19 August 1997) was a Czech pop-rock singer and songwriter, best known for his distinctively high-pitched, melancholic voice and his Beatles-inspired songs with George and Beatovens and Flamengo. He co-founded George and Beatovens in 1963, and his song Náhrobní kámen took first place at the Zlatý slavík poll in 1967. He is considered one of the defining figures of Czech popular music from the 1960s and 70s, and was inducted into the Czech Beat Hall of Fame.
For the 80th anniversary of Novak's birth, the Černej pudink website published an extensive commemorative text, and Supraphonline recalled the Povídej compilation with original recordings.
Reflex.cz published an extensive portrait of the singer for his 80th birthday with the subtitle 'The Last True Knight of the Czech Music Scene'.
Dotyk.cz published a commemorative article about Petr Novak and his relationship with actress Eva Jakoubkova.
Singer Karel Kahovec, who took over the George & Beatovens band after Novak's death, recalled his partner in an interview for Vlasta.cz and continues to carry on his legacy.
