Markéta Foukalová and composer Martin Brunner present a premiere project: poems by Jan Zábrana set to music. The new album unites music and literature from the Czechoslovak era.
Jan Zábrana (1931–1984) was a Czech poet, prose writer, and translator. He is known for his extensive translation work, rendering English- and Russian-language authors — including Sylvia Plath and Isaac Babel — into Czech. His posthumously published diary Celý život (A Whole Life) is considered one of the most important documents of 20th-century Czech literature.
