About

Vltava is a Prague-based band founded in 1986 by singer, guitarist and actor Robert Nebřenský. Over the decades the group built a cult following on the Czech alternative scene, blending rock, jazz, swing and funk with poetic, surrealist-tinged lyrics. Their landmark album Marx Engels Beatles (1998) earned a Czech Grammy nomination and became one of the most celebrated records of the post-revolution era, with the title track famously featured in Jan Hřebejk's film Pupendo. After a hiatus from 2003 to 2010, the band returned and released their seventh studio album Spass muss immer sein in 2022, earning a nomination for Group of the Year at the Anděl Awards.
