Jára Cimrman is a fictional Czech genius, inventor and playwright created by Zdeněk Svěrák and Jiří Šebánek in 1966. The Divadlo Járy Cimrmana theatre company performs absurd comedies that combine mock-academic lectures with theatrical plays. In a public poll, Cimrman was voted the greatest Czech of all time.
