About the venue: National Theatre of Moravian-Silesia

The National Moravian-Silesian Theatre (NDM) is the largest and oldest professional theatre in the Moravian-Silesian Region, operating in Ostrava since 1919. Uniquely in Moravia, it brings together four artistic ensembles – opera, drama, ballet, and musical – performing on three permanent stages: the Antonín Dvořák Theatre (517 seats), the Jiří Myron Theatre (623 seats), and the chamber Theatre "12" (opened 2018). It stages around 16 premieres and nearly 500 performances per year, and has been a member of Opera Europa since 2005.

Sergei Prokofiev (1891–1953) was a Russian composer, pianist, and conductor, one of the most significant musical figures of the 20th century. His output spans operas, ballets, symphonies, and chamber works, with celebrated pieces including the ballets Romeo and Juliet and Cinderella, and the Classical Symphony.

About: Marek Šedivý

Marek Šedivý is a Czech conductor and pianist, Musical Director of the Opera of the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre in Ostrava since 2020. He previously served as chief conductor of the Silesian Theatre in Opava, where he led productions ranging from Mascagni to Janáček. He has appeared at Prague Spring and Dvořák Praha, and recorded Beethoven piano concertos with the BBC Symphony Orchestra.
