Pavel Šporcl brings the AIR project to Bechyně on Saturday, 27 June 2026 at the Zámecká jízdárna of Bechyně Castle. This is the second stop of his four-date Czech tour, with further performances scheduled in Znojmo. The programme draws from the AIR album and focuses on Bach concertos in chamber arrangement with Šporcl Chamber Players. The concert begins at 19:00; tickets start from 690 CZK.

About the venue: Castle Riding Hall

The castle riding hall in Bechyně was built in 1776 on the castle forecourt as the Paar family's manège, then remodelled in 1864 in the Romantic Gothic style. It stands directly opposite the Renaissance château, separated from it by a large English-style park. After reconstruction it became the largest event hall in South Bohemia, seating up to 900 guests - concerts, theatre performances, balls, exhibitions and corporate events all take place here.

About: Pavel Šporcl

Born on 25 April 1973 in České Budějovice, Pavel Šporcl is a Czech violin virtuoso trained at the Prague Conservatory, HAMU, and in the United States with Itzhak Perlman and Dorothy DeLay. He stands as the sole Czech violinist of his generation included in Henry Roth's Violin Virtuosos: From Paganini to the 21st Century and was awarded the Czech Medal of Merit in 2015. Playing an iconic blue violin crafted by Jan Špidlen, he has sold more than 230,000 CDs and performed on major stages worldwide including Carnegie Hall and Suntory Hall.

Šporcl released the rock album Rebel with the Blue Violin (Universal Music, 2024) and in April 2025 presented it with a concert at the Prague Municipal House.

In an interview with Czech Radio Radiožurnál, Šporcl explained why he turned to rock after fifty and how instrumental versions of rock hits work without vocals.

Pavel Šporcl released the album AIR dedicated to Bach's works - the recording was created with Šporcl Chamber Players in the Domovina studio and includes, among other things, the world premiere of the Concerto for Two Violins in D minor with oboist Vilém Veverka.

About: Vilém Veverka

Born in Prague, Veverka built his international reputation after winning the Sony Music Foundation competition in Tokyo in 2003 and completing a residency with the Berlin Philharmonic. His repertoire stretches from Baroque to world premieres of contemporary works, and alongside his classical career he explores genre fusion with his TRIOplus ensemble.
