Pavel Šporcl - AIR
Violin virtuoso Pavel Šporcl performs Bach and works from his album AIR in chamber setting with Šporcl Chamber Players and oboist Vilém Veverka at Bechyně Castle.
Šporcl Chamber Players is a chamber orchestra of leading Czech musicians assembled around violinist Pavel Šporcl, one of the most prominent figures in Czech classical music. The ensemble was formed as a recording and concert vehicle for Šporcl's Bach-focused projects, making its debut on the album AIR (2025), which features Bach violin concertos, a double concerto for violin and oboe, and the iconic orchestral pieces Air and Badinerie. Šporcl studied at the Prague Conservatory under Václav Snítil and later in the USA with Dorothy DeLay, Itzhak Perlman and Eduard Schmieder; he is a laureate of the ARD Competition in Munich (1992) and Prague Spring (1997), and the only Czech violinist of his generation listed in Henry Roth's book Violin Virtuosos: From Paganini to the 21st Century.
Pavel Šporcl released the album AIR dedicated to Bach's works - the recording was created with Šporcl Chamber Players in the Domovina studio and includes, among other things, the world premiere of the Concerto for Two Violins in D minor with oboist Vilém Veverka.
At the same time, Šporcl announced a new concert program Bach na rebela, whose premiere at the Prague Municipal House is scheduled for November 30, 2026.
Šporcl opened the South Bohemian festival Hvězdy nad Vltavou together with the English Chamber Orchestra with the program A Midsummer Night's Dream in České Budějovice.
Šporcl announced the summer academy Pavel Šporcl Academy 2026 for young violinists with instruction and three concerts as part of the Hvězdy nad Vltavou festival.
In the subscription series Pražské hudební večery 2025/2026, Šporcl set himself the goal of studying and gradually performing all 24 Paganini Caprices for solo violin.
