Violin virtuoso Pavel Šporcl performs Bach and works from his album AIR in chamber setting with Šporcl Chamber Players and oboist Vilém Veverka at Bechyně Castle.
Vilém Veverka (born 1978 in Prague) is one of the Czech Republic's most respected oboists. He studied at the Prague Conservatory, HAMU, and the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin under Dominik Wollenweber, and spent two years with the Berlin Philharmonic as a Karajan Academy fellow. His 2003 victory at the Sony Music Foundation competition in Tokyo launched an international career spanning orchestras across Europe, America and Asia. He co-founded Ensemble Berlin-Prag and PhilHarmonia Octet, serves as solo oboist of the Brno Philharmonic, and since 2024 teaches at the University of Ostrava.
The album Predominance, recorded with harpist Kateřina Englichová and released by Supraphon, features four new compositions commissioned from leading Czech composers Jiří Gemrot, Martin Hybler, and Petr Wajsar.
Veverka performed with guitarist Michal Pavlíček at the Upgrade gala concert at Pražská křižovatka, which was filmed as a concert film.
Veverka performed at the Prague Spring festival in the program Two Artists, Two Views.
At the No Limits 3 gala concert at Pražská křižovatka, he celebrated twenty years on the professional stage and received a Gold Record from Supraphon for fifteen years of collaboration.
Since 2024, he has been working as a pedagogue at the music faculty of Ostrava University.
