Smetanova Litomyšl is one of the most significant classical music festivals in the Czech Republic. Every summer it transforms the birthplace of Bedřich Smetana into a centre for concerts, opera, and other musical projects.

About the venue: Litomyšl Monastery Gardens

Klášterní zahrady (Monastery Gardens) in Litomyšl is a public park of over one hectare situated next to the former Piarist monastery, between two churches of the town and close to the castle. The gardens were created through a reconstruction completed in 2000, designed by architects Zdeněk Sendler, Václav Babka and Radko Květ. Visitors can enjoy a gazebo with a view over the town, flower beds, and a pool with a sculptural group donated to the town by sculptor Olbram Zoubek. During the Smetanova Litomyšl festival, the gardens serve as an accompanying open-air stage.

In the 2026/27 season, LSO will undertake an extensive Asian tour in September and October 2026, after which Pappano will open the Barbican season with the British premiere of Amber Alchemy by Daï Fujikura and Mahler's Second Symphony.
