Schools – Guided Tour: 1796–1918: Art of the Long Century
Veletržní palác, Prague
100 Kč za skupinu 12–30 osob, 2 pedagogové free
This guided tour presents 19th and early 20th-century art in thematic contexts. The exhibition is organized into chapters titled Man, World, and Ideas, where artworks enter into dialogue across time, movements, and media. Alongside works by Czech art classics – Josef Mánes, Jakub Schikaneder, and František Ženíšek – you will find pioneers of modernism such as Emil Filla, František Kupka, and Pablo Picasso.
The programme is built on dialogue and direct encounter with original works. It traces how artists of different periods responded to the questions of their time: social change, technological progress, individualism, and new ways of seeing. This is not a lecture on art history, but a search for connections and meanings – including details of everyday life, fashion, architecture, and period ideals.
Artists featured in the programme: Beneš Knüpfer, Karel Purkyně, Emil Filla, Josef Mánes, Luisa Max-Ehrlerová, Pepa Mařáková, Jakub Schikaneder, František Ženíšek, Gustav Klimt, František Kupka, Pablo Picasso.
