Josef Mánes (1820–1871) was a Czech painter and one of the most prominent figures of 19th-century Czech art. Working in the Romantic and National Revival tradition, he painted landscapes, portraits, and genre scenes. He is best known for the calendar medallion on Prague's Old Town Hall astronomical clock.
