Wired Up - Wire Bonsai Workshop

A full-day workshop in creating wire bonsai led by instructor Jan Ditrich (WiredUp). You will create your own bonsai from scratch to final crown shaping. The workshop is designed for complete beginners - no prior experience with wire work or artistic skills are needed.

You will start from the first step: prepare the bonsai base and anchor it in a bowl, learn to work with wires, and gradually create the trunk, branches, and crown of the tree. You will also try making small leaves that give the bonsai its characteristic appearance - this is one of the most time-consuming parts, so the instructor will have some leaves pre-made so everyone can practice their creation and still finish the entire tree in one day. After assembling the parts and shaping the branches comes the final shaping of the bonsai, where each tree gains its own character. The result of the workshop is a finished wire bonsai, not an unfinished project to complete at home.

The workshop is scheduled for 8 hours so everyone has enough space to work at their own pace without rushing. A lunch break is included during the day, though lunch is not included in the price - there are plenty of restaurants and bistros around Lucerna. All materials and tools will be prepared on site.

Practical information:
When: 16 January 2027, 10:00-18:00, including lunch break; the workshop can be slightly extended if needed.
Where: Czech-Japanese Society premises in Palác Lucerna, Vodičkova 36, Prague 1.
Price: 3,900 CZK per person.
Capacity: 8 participants.
Level: beginners.

The small capacity allows the instructor to work with participants individually and help each person with specific steps in building and shaping their tree. The price includes full-day instruction, all materials, and a complete wire bonsai in gift packaging to take home.
