Slayer are an American thrash metal band from Huntington Park, California, formed in 1981 by guitarists Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman alongside bassist/vocalist Tom Araya and drummer Dave Lombardo. Alongside Metallica, Megadeth and Anthrax they make up the so-called Big Four of thrash. Their 1986 album Reign in Blood is widely regarded as one of the most influential records in extreme metal history. After a farewell world tour in 2019 the band disbanded, then returned for select shows from 2024 onward.
Slayer announced a tour for the 40th anniversary of the album Reign in Blood: after two sold-out shows in Los Angeles, they added Latin American dates in Mexico City, Bogota, Santiago, Buenos Aires, and São Paulo.
The second show at Kia Forum in Los Angeles was added due to exceptional fan interest after the first show sold out on the day sales began.
Slayer performed their only American concert on the East Coast in 2025 at Hersheypark Stadium in Hershey, Pennsylvania, before an audience of 30,000 spectators.
Slayer performed in July 2025 at two headlining shows in Great Britain - in Cardiff and London - which were their first European concerts since 2019.
Slayer returned to the stage after a five-year break: they performed their first reunion show on September 22, 2024, at Riot Fest in Chicago and on October 10, 2024, at the Aftershock festival in Sacramento.
