Sodom is a German thrash/black metal band formed in 1981 in Gelsenkirchen. They are considered pioneers of German thrash metal and part of the Teutonic thrash trinity alongside Kreator and Destruction. Their early releases, such as the EP In the Sign of Evil (1984), had a major influence on the first wave of black metal.
