Rudolf Karel (1880–1945) was a Czech composer and teacher, a pupil of Antonín Dvořák. He wrote operas, symphonic poems and chamber music in a late-Romantic style. During World War II he joined the resistance, was arrested by the Gestapo, and died in the Terezín concentration camp.
