Ervín Schulhoff (1894–1942) was a Czech composer and pianist of Jewish origin, associated with the musical avant-garde of the early 20th century. His work blends expressionism, Dadaism, and jazz influences. He died in the Nazi concentration camp Wülzburg. His Five Pieces for String Quartet ranks among the most performed works of his chamber music output.
