Communion with the Spirit of Samuel Beckett
"How many more hours until the next silence?" - BECKETT, Samuel: Novellas and Text for Nothing, p. 95
A reader of Dostoevsky by Emil Filly seems to be planning a hanging. A reader of Beckett sometimes feels as though he is driving a coffin into a glowing furnace. Two hours remain - first he sees white, the emptiness that surrounds him, then fire begins to glow in a strangely yellow hue, fragments of words and sounds from memories, heard and seen things intersect. Reconciliation arrives. After two hours, silence finally comes.
