
Brünnwerk & Guests: Concert for the New Album 'Something Now and Everything Later'
Brno avant-garde ensemble Brünnwerk presents their second album with an original fusion of vocals, rap, and jazz improvisation. Concert at Husa na provázku Theatre.
Pavel Zlámal is a Brno-based clarinetist, saxophonist, composer and conductor whose work sits at the intersection of jazz, contemporary classical music and free improvisation. He studied at the Conservatory in Teplice, completed a master's and doctoral degree at JAMU in Brno, and spent two years at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. He teaches clarinet and saxophone at JAMU's jazz department and leads several ensembles of his own, including the Divergent Connections Orchestra, the PQ quartet and the avant-garde project Next Phase.
Two new albums were released on Bandcamp: UZURAMARU (Pavel Zlámal & PQ) and 6-7-8-10-9.
Zlámal performed as part of a JAMU concert at EXPO 2025 in Osaka, where his ensemble presented jazz improvisations inspired by the music of Leoš Janáček.
The album Brünnwerku Something Now and Everything Later was released.
Zlámal released a solo album Six Quotes - Six Utterances, available on Bandcamp.
The JAMU publishing house released Zlámal's monograph Divergent Conduction, dedicated to the principles of gestural conducting of an improvisational ensemble.
