About

Pavel Kohout (born 1976, Prague) is a Czech concert organist who rose to international prominence after winning the First Prize, Gold Medal and J. S. Bach Prize at the Musashino - Tokyo 2000 international organ competition. He studied at the Prague Conservatory, at HAMU under Prof. Jaroslav Tůma, and at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam under Prof. Jacques van Oortmerssen, completing a doctorate in historical performance practice in 2010. He performs across Europe, the USA, Japan, Australia and Russia - at venues including the Berliner Konzerthaus, Suntory Hall Tokyo and Notre-Dame de Paris - and collaborates with Czech Radio on the project "Historical Organs".

  • 2025-06

    Pavel Kohout performed on June 8, 2025 in the church in Štípě near Zlín as part of the cycle The Magic of Organs; the program included an organ version of Smetana's Vltava and compositions by Paganini.

    At the Dvořák Festival in Hejnice (July 5, 2025) Kohout performed an organ version of Dvořák's New World Symphony on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the consecration of the Hejnice church.

  • 2024-06

    In June 2024 Kohout performed at the Art Walks festival in Plzen (Korand Choir) together with violist Jitka Hosprova as part of the celebration of the Year of Czech Music and the 200th anniversary of the birth of Bedrich Smetana.
