Pavel Haas

Pavel Haas (1899–1944) was a Czech composer from Brno and a pupil of Leoš Janáček. He wrote orchestral and chamber music, operas, and film scores. During World War II he was deported to Terezín and then to Auschwitz, where he was murdered. His work was long neglected and is only gradually returning to the concert repertoire.
