Žižkov Theatre of Járy Cimrmana, Prague
A play with songs and dance.
A traditional seminar will introduce you to the most basic facts about Jára Cimrman. The subsequent play demonstrates how difficult it is for some people to come to terms with new discoveries about their past. Editor's note: "The one-act play 'The Amazement of Gendarme Kovanda', which we present under the shorter title 'Akt', was written in 1910–11. During Cimrman's lifetime, it was performed, as far as we know, only once, in 1913 on the occasion of the opening of the Labuť restaurant in Tanvald. The play seemed cynical, vulgar, implausible and unpatriotic to contemporary audiences, so it fell into complete obscurity."
