Ján Vojtaššák was a Slovak Roman Catholic bishop, serving as Bishop of Spiš from 1921. After World War II, he was sentenced in a show trial by the communist regime and imprisoned. He became a symbol of Slovak Catholic resistance to communist ideology in Czechoslovakia.
