Schools - Matter Speaks

Do buildings speak? Architecture communicates with us through form, material, and space - it influences our senses, emotions, and how we perceive society and different historical periods.

This creative workshop explores the fundamental principles of architectural creation - the relationship between matter, material, and space - and their impact on how we experience architecture. Participants will experiment with shaping materials, try different substances, and discover what "voice" their own buildings might have. The goal is to gain insight into an architect's creative process and, through working with architectural models made from various materials (foam, wood, plastic, etc.), understand how buildings affect our senses, thoughts, and relationships.

The programme connects to the exhibition 1956-1989: Architecture for All - specifically to buildings such as the Czechoslovak Pavilion at Expo 58 in Brussels, the Hotel and television transmitter on Ještěd, the new departure hall at Prague-Ruzyně Airport, and the New Stage of the National Theatre in Prague.
