Schools – In the Gallery with a Sketchbook: 1796–1918: Art of the Long Century

"In the Gallery with a Sketchbook" is an educational programme designed for school groups, taking place in the exhibition 1796–1918: Art of the Long Century at the Veletržní palác. The programme is built on students' perception of artworks and their own creative work – students walk through the exhibition, observe, and record their impressions through sketching.

Teachers can choose a single visit to a specific exhibition, or return with their students to gradually explore other exhibitions at the Veletržní palác (a triptych of 19th–21st century exhibitions). Repeated visits result in an extensive sketchbook mapping the entire period under study. The programme emphasises personal responsibility and cultivated behaviour from each student.

Programme objectives: initiate individual encounters with artworks, record impressions through sketching, become familiar with a diverse range of artistic approaches, and create a portfolio of personal creative interpretations. The selection of artists depends on each student's individual choice.
