Heinrich Schütz (1585–1672) was a German early Baroque composer, widely regarded as one of the most important German composers before Bach. He is best known for his sacred music, including motets, oratorios, and passions. His collection "Geistliche Chormusik" (1648) comprises 29 motets for vocal ensemble.
