Johann Joseph Fux (1660–1741) was an Austrian Baroque composer and music theorist. He served as imperial Kapellmeister at the Habsburg court in Vienna and is best known for his counterpoint treatise Gradus ad Parnassum. His output includes operas, masses, oratorios, and instrumental works composed for the imperial court.
