Johann Heinrich Schmelzer

Johann Heinrich Schmelzer (c. 1620–1680) was an Austrian composer and violinist at the imperial court in Vienna. One of the foremost Central European Baroque composers, he was celebrated for his violin sonatas and sacred works. In 1679 he became the first native Austrian appointed as imperial Kapellmeister in Vienna.
