Amorphis is a Finnish metal band founded in Helsinki in 1990 by Esa Holopainen, Tomi Koivusaari and Jan Rechberger. Starting out as a death metal act, they gradually wove in progressive and folk elements, drawing heavily on the Finnish national epic Kalevala for their lyrics. Albums such as Tales from the Thousand Lakes and Eclipse are considered landmarks of Nordic metal. In September 2025 they released their 15th studio album, Borderland, followed by a major European tour.
Amorphis released on September 26, 2025 their fifteenth studio album Borderland on the Reigning Phoenix Music label, produced by Danish producer Jacobem Hansenem.
As the first single from the album Borderland, the band released on June 6, 2025 the song 'Light And Shadow'.
Amorphis announced that the album Borderland is the first album recorded in collaboration with Danish producer Jacobem Hansenem - the previous three records were created in Jensa Bogrena's studio.
Amorphis were confirmed as the opening band for Arch Enemy's European 'Blood Dynasty Tour' in October and November 2025, along with Eluveitie and Gatecreeper.
Amorphis completed an autumn North American co-headlining tour with Dark Tranquillity, which started on September 3, 2024 in Richmond and ended on October 6, 2024 in New York.
