Paradise Lost are a gothic metal band from Halifax, West Yorkshire, active since 1988. Alongside My Dying Bride and Anathema they form the so-called 'Peaceville Three', the trio widely credited with shaping death-doom and gothic metal in the early 1990s. Their 1991 album Gothic is retrospectively seen as the genre's founding document, while 1995's Draconian Times broke them into the metal mainstream. Across seventeen studio albums and over two million copies sold, they remain one of the most influential heavy bands Britain has produced.
In September 2025, Paradise Lost released their seventeenth studio album Ascension through Nuclear Blast Records.
In October 2025, they launched the first part of the European tour Ascension of Europe, which included a stop in Prague (Palác Akropolis, October 29).
In October 2025, they announced the second part of the European tour for February and March 2026, featuring 21 new dates.
In January 2025, the band announced a North American tour The Devil Embraced with dates in May 2025.
