Smetanův dům is Litomyšl's main cultural centre and a listed heritage building. The neo-Renaissance structure with Art Nouveau elements was built in 1903-1905 to designs by Jan Šula, Viktorin Šulc and Josef Velflík, and opened on 11 June 1905. The large hall functions primarily as a theatre stage, while the venue also hosts concerts, a ball season, the Litomyšl Music Evenings and the Smetanova Litomyšl festival. A summer open-air stage stands in the park beside the building.
