About the venue

The Town Picture Gallery occupies the second floor of Litomyšl Chateau, where it has been based since 1925 - the spaces were originally provided by Prince Albert of Thurn-Taxis. After a two-year renovation, it reopened in June 2024 with a new interior by Brno studio MAAUS. Run by the Městská galerie Litomyšl, it mounts a fresh exhibition each year drawing on both its own holdings and loans; the core of the collection consists of Czech art from the 19th and 20th centuries, much of it from a 1977 gift by Anna Matičková.
