About the venue

Ostrava Museum has been housed since 1931 in the listed Old Town Hall building on Masaryk Square in the city centre. Its permanent exhibitions cover the history of Ostrava, archaeology, art-historical collections, geology, mineralogy, ethnography and the history of mining. The collections comprise around 300,000 inventory items; highlights include the unique Mašek astronomical clock and a 200-year-old orchestrion. The building also features a viewing tower open to visitors.
