MAOK in Most
MAOK will present their live improvisation in a historic church that was moved a kilometre in 1975 and recorded in the Guinness Book of Records. The concert unfolds without applause and resembles a musical meditation.
A late Gothic deanery church built between 1517 and 1550 to designs by Jakob Heilmann of Schweinfurt, featuring a three-nave hall with 16 chapels. It gained worldwide fame in 1975 when, to make way for coal mining, it was moved 841 metres along rails – a feat recorded in the Guinness Book of Records. Open to visitors since 1988, the interior houses an exhibition of Gothic and Renaissance art from north-west Bohemia and a 17-metre-high Baroque altar.
