Kino Portyč opened in June 1990 and has been run by the Centrum kultury města Písek since 2016. The main auditorium seats 340 and doubles as a nuclear shelter - it was renovated after the 2003 floods and fitted with more comfortable seating. A second screen for 40 viewers was added in 2019, giving the cinema up to six titles on weekends. Part of the foyer functions as a gallery space, with exhibitions running throughout the year.
