J.P. Rameau: Galant Worlds / Les Indes galantes – Premiere

Jean-Philippe Rameau premiered the opera-ballet Les Indes galantes on 23 August 1735 at the Palais-Royal in Paris, with a libretto by Louis Fuzelier. The work is not a classical narrative with a single hero, but rather a Baroque kaleidoscope of four scenes set in the exotic lands of the imagination of the time — Turkey, Persia, Peru, and North America — united by the theme of love transcending cultural boundaries.

Beyond arias, the work features lavish dances, choral scenes, and orchestral numbers. Now it will be heard in an authentic interpretation on historical instruments with the SILENTIUM! Ensemble orchestra.

Soloists: Adam Plachetka, Jean-François Lombard, Hana Blažíková, Lenka Máčiková, Doubravka Novotná, Michal Marhold, Vojtěch Semerád, Tomáš Král. Conductor: Tomáš Netopil, director: Tomáš Ondřej Pilař, choreography: Martin Šinták.

The premiere takes place in the newly opened cultural and creative Centrum Jízdárna in Znojmo.
