Babouci – The Oldest South Bohemian Brass Band

Babouci is the oldest South Bohemian brass band with an unbroken history since 1868, performing throughout the Czech Republic and abroad — in Austria, Germany, Belgium, and Slovakia.

For many years, the band was shaped by Václav Rožboud, a member for nearly fifty years and its leader for thirty. Following his death in autumn 1998, baritone František Petrách took over, passing the baton to clarinetist Petr Shýbal on 1 May 2002. Since 1 May 2019, clarinetist Tomáš Staněk has led the ensemble.

During the Petrách and Shýbal era, Babouci recorded 15 CDs of South Bohemian songs at Kubeš Music Publishing; another was expected to be released in autumn of that year.

The concert takes place outdoors on the summer stage at Háječek in Heřmaničky.
