Babouci - the Oldest South Bohemian Brass Band at Háječku
Háječek - Summer Parquet, Heřmaničky
Babouci is the oldest South Bohemian brass band, performing continuously since 1868. The ensemble has toured throughout the Czech Republic and also performed in Austria, Germany, Belgium, and Slovakia. Since May 1, 2019, it has been led by French horn player Tomáš Staněk, who succeeded clarinetist Petr Shýbal.
The band's distinctive playing style was shaped especially by Václav Rožboud, a member for nearly fifty years and its conductor for thirty. Following his death in autumn 1998, baritone player František Petrách took over the baton, and on May 1, 2002, passed it to Petr Shýbal. During the Petrách and Shýbal era, Babouci recorded 15 CDs of South Bohemian songs with Kubeš Music Publishing; another is expected to be released this autumn.
The concert takes place outdoors on the summer stage at Háječku in Heřmaničky.
Performing: Babouci (CZ)
