Václav Rožboud, from the village of Němčice, was a bass flugelhorn player and the long-serving bandleader of the South Bohemian brass band Babouci. He joined the ensemble in 1948 and took over as kapelník in 1968, leading the band for thirty years until his sudden death on 25 September 1998. Music ran deep in his family - his grandfather played in an Austrian army band, his father in military music, and both his sons followed the same path. He also arranged folk songs for the band's repertoire.
